Why True Count?
The Running Count alone doesn't tell you much once more than one deck is in play. A running count of +6 means the deck is loaded with high cards if there's only 1 deck left โ but it's barely a blip if there are 6 decks left. To compare fairly (and know how much to bet), divide the running count by how many decks remain:
Running Count รท Decks Remaining = True Count
| Running | Decks Left | True Count |
| +4 | 2 | +2.0 |
| +4 | 8 | +0.5 |
| -6 | 1.5 | -4.0 |
The true count โ not the running count โ is what tells you when the deck actually favors the player.
